About
the District
I am proud to call Lee District home, as I have for my entire life, and
look forward to leading you into the years ahead.
Lee
District is one of the friendliest and well-located communities in Fairfax
County, where we blend the best of the past with the promise of the future.
I am proud of our area’s heritage and always work hard to preserve our
community’s neighborly atmosphere. This is our home, and there is plenty to
be proud of.
Our community is a vibrant mix of neighborhoods, small family businesses,
convenient shopping centers, parks and recreation centers, and excellent
schools. Certainly we have our challenges, and I look forward to working on
your behalf in the years to come to get things done!
South County, as we are sometimes called, is home to Huntley
Meadows Park,
one of the largest parks in the Fairfax County park system, as well as many
smaller parks for quiet walks or sports activities. The Lee District
Recreation Center offers many amenities, including an
Olympic-sized pool,
ball fields, and tennis courts.
Summer in Lee District features free outdoor concerts and dancing in the
beautiful amphitheater at Lee District Park and in the lively Kingstowne
Towne Center. Enjoy the best of our local produce at the
Kingstowne Farmers
Market on summer Friday afternoons, also at the Kingstowe Towne Center. With
George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate, Woodlawn Plantation, and the
Huntley Mansion nearby, you’re only a short distance from some of our
country’s most important historical sites
If you are looking for an alternative to driving, consider using one our
Metro Stations – Huntington or Franconia – Springfield. The
Franconia-Springfield
Station includes direct links to the Virginia Railway
Express and Greyhound Bus Terminal. You may also take advantage of the many
bus routes that serve the South County area. A limited-stop express bus
service called REX (Richmond Highway Express) will save time for you if you
are traveling between Fort Belvoir and the Huntington Metro and King Street
Metro stations. You can also hop on a TAGS bus to travel in and around the
Springfield part of Lee District.
Lee District has outstanding civic and business resources and a long history
of citizen involvement in community and government. I pledge, as your
Supervisor, to continue to enhance that tradition. It is my mission to
ensure the citizen’s voice is heard!
